Bret is our fearless leader and your Contact Center and COLO expert. His vast knowledge of the intricacies of those solutions are what sets him and SUMO apart in our industry.
Bret started in the industry 25 years ago working for MCI. It was there and then later Qwest Wholesale where he gained an unparalleled knowledge of Network Infrastructure and Operations. Bret founded Sumo Communications in March of 2002 with a simple vision: Provide a level of service to clients that the larger Carriers simply cannot provide, and give customers a service provider agnostic partner. Now Bret oversees the organization, while maintaining a hands-on approach to client management.
Matt Allen knows networks like no one else in the business. He works directly with your IT staff to customize and streamline the solution you didn’t even know you needed.
Matt is our Executive Vice President. By that we mean that any account Matt touches is instantly upgraded from standard to WHOA! Matt has 15 years experience in Network Infrastructure, Architecture, Cloud Design, Deployment and Operations. Matt’s expertise comes in handy when your IT group is lean or stretched thin. Consider him an extension of your internal team… he’s THAT good! When not upgrading our clients’ experience, Matt loves to travel, surf and golf. Hit him up for a round… you won’t regret it!
Jessica is our voice solutions guru. She designs DR plans for those 100% uptime voice applications. Plus, she’s a Toll-free routing and and SMS genius. Ask her about SIP migrations… she’s an expert.
Jessica’s career started over 15 years ago working for a Long Distance carrier. She quickly learned the ropes and began to study the in-depth details of complex call-center architecture. She single-handedly designed a product that enabled end-users to act as their own Resporg, allowing them to control their toll-free traffic real-time and in a profoundly advantageous way.
At Sumo Communications, Jessica works across all architectural platforms to provide a layer of support to the technical aspects of services deployment and management. For our call-center clients, she designs their disaster recovery plans and helps to achieve a smooth transition.

Kaity is the Executive Administrative Assistant to Bret Hickenlooper. She is a born and raised Jersey Girl who ventured west six years ago. Previously in Accounts Receivable/Payable at the FinTech company AvidXchange, she has taken a further leap into the Tech Industry with SUMO Communications. She is currently obtaining her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from Colorado State University–Global. In her free time Kaity enjoys spending time with her partner Kaitlyn and their two crazy dogs, Clementine and Chandler Bing.
Terri is a Wunderkind of all trades. She picks up loose ends for all the staff and keeps our business running smoothly. If you’re not sure who you need to run to, start with Terri!
Terri’s background is in Accounting and Finance. In addition to managing internal office operations, she lends her vast experience to Sumo helping to chase down billing questions with our upstream providers. Terri’s goal in life is to be error free. We love that, because when mistakes happen, Terri catches them!
Terri enjoys spending time with her 5 children and 6 grandchildren!
Alex is our Account Development Rockstar. He works hard on finding and qualifying company projects that SUMO can support. He has been fundamental around the process and organization of generating new potential projects for companies needing to evaluate new solutions.
Alex has been around sales and account development 5 years, at companies like Quomation and SoccerTech. He started his telecom career 3 years ago at NICE inContact. He had many roles and advanced quickly in his career there, moving from the inbound sales development to team lead of a group of 6 sales developers with in 7 months. After which he moved up to Enterprise account development and then on to Account Executive within another 9 months. Alex holds and is driving the exciting and challenging portion of creating new opportunities for companies looking for solutions to have the value of SUMO involved in that important evaluation process…
