    Bret is our fearless leader and your Contact Center and COLO expert. His vast knowledge of the intricacies of those solutions are what sets him and SUMO apart in our industry.

    Bret started in the industry 25 years ago working for MCI. It was there and then later Qwest Wholesale where he gained an unparalleled knowledge of Network Infrastructure and Operations. Bret founded Sumo Communications 16 years ago with a simple vision: Provide a level of service to clients that the larger Carriers simply cannot provide, and give customers a service provider agnostic partner. Now Bret oversees the organization, while maintaining a hands-on approach to client management. He’s your go-to guy if you’re looking for Contact Center or Data Center services

    Matt Allen knows networks like no one else in the business. He works directly with your IT staff to customize and streamline the solution you didn't even know you needed.

    Matt is our Executive Vice President. By that we mean that any account Matt touches is instantly upgraded from standard to WHOA! Matt has 15 years experience in Network Infrastructure, Architecture, Cloud Design, Deployment and Operations. Matt’s expertise comes in handy when your IT group is lean or stretched thin. Consider him an extension of your internal team… he’s THAT good! When not upgrading our clients’ experience, Matt loves to travel, surf and golf. Hit him up for a round… you won’t regret it!

    Jessica is our voice solutions guru. She designs DR plans for those 100% uptime voice applications. Plus, she's a Toll-free routing and and SMS genius. Ask her about SIP migrations... she's an expert.

    Jessica’s career started over 15 years ago working for a Long Distance carrier. She quickly learned the ropes and began to study the in-depth details of complex call-center architecture. She single-handedly designed a product that enabled end-users to act as their own Resporg, allowing them to control their toll-free traffic real-time and in a profoundly advantageous way.

    At Sumo Communications, Jessica works across all architectural platforms to provide a layer of support to the technical aspects of services deployment and management. For our call-center clients, she designs their disaster recovery plans and helps to achieve a smooth transition.

    Austin is our marketing ninja and marketing whisperer. He works on holding amazing events to further strengthen the relationships with our customers as well as overseeing our brand image, messaging, and strategy.

    Austin is a jack of all trades when it comes to marketing. He started his career in SEO and PPC advertising. He helped a company by the name of Proof Sunglasses, start their SEO and PPC strategy. Proof Sunglasses appeared sometime later on the hit show, Shark Tank, where they were offered a deal but turned it down. Austin began his telecom marketing career over 6 years ago. He has held marketing leadership positions across all channels of telecom. He currently helps manage the largest social media group in the world on LinkedIn comprised of 1.5 million members. Austin is a thought leader on LinkedIn and has taught several seminars on maximizing the value LinkedIn has to offer. Austin takes the marketing reigns here at SUMO Communications and is positioning the brand to clearly define who we are and educate those we work with on the un-matched value that SUMO provides.

    Matt focuses on partner relations to help ensure pricing, contract execution and escalations go off without a hitch. If you're not sure who your go-to at Sumo is, Matt's happy to help!

    Matt has a background in sales and marketing in the carrier world. His focus in the organization is to forge new relationships with the underlying carriers needed to deploy worldwide solutions for our clients. Additionally, Matt helps to negotiate contract terms with our partners on our clients’ behalf.

    He spends time between our Salt Lake City Headquarters and our California office in Santa Barbara. If you haven’t met anyone at Sumo Communications, reach out to Matt. He’s a good place to start if you’re not sure where to go!

    Allison Strang is a Telecom wizard with 22 years of telecommunications and technology experience under her belt. Having worked for various CLECs and LECs across the nation, Allison has held positions ranging from Project Manager to Sales Engineer. Allison most recently was the Manager of Telecommunications for CallTower, a UCaaS company based in Utah, where she put her skills to use in building strong provider relationships.

    At SUMO, Allison is our Director of Account Management. She is our customers go-to person for everything they need regarding their accounts. Get to know Allison, you will be glad you did!

    Terri is a Wunderkind of all trades. She picks up loose ends for all the staff and keeps our business running smoothly. If you're not sure who you need to run to, start with Terri!

    Terri’s background is in Accounting and Finance. In addition to managing internal office operations, she lends her vast experience to Sumo helping to chase down billing questions with our upstream providers. Terri’s goal in life is to be error free. We love that, because when mistakes happen, Terri catches them!

    Terri enjoys spending time with her 5 children and 6 grandchildren!

    Kaity is the Executive Administrative Assistant to Bret Hickenlooper. She is a born and raised Jersey Girl who ventured west six years ago. Previously in Accounts Receivable/Payable at the FinTech company AvidXchange, she has taken a further leap into the Tech Industry with SUMO Communications. She is currently obtaining her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from Colorado State University–Global. In her free time Kaity enjoys spending time with her partner Kaitlyn and their two crazy dogs, Clementine and Chandler Bing.

    Alex is our Account Development Rockstar. He works hard on finding and qualifying company projects that SUMO can support. He has been fundamental around the process and organization of generating new potential projects for companies needing to evaluate new solutions.

    Alex has been around sales and account development 5 years, at companies like Quomation and SoccerTech. He started his telecom career 3 years ago at NICE inContact. He had many roles and advanced quickly in his career there, moving from the inbound sales development to team lead of a group of 6 sales developers with in 7 months. After which he moved up to Enterprise account development and then on to Account Executive within another 9 months.
    Alex holds and is driving the exciting and challenging portion of creating new opportunities for companies looking for solutions to have the value of SUMO involved in that important evaluation process…

    Ryan has sold a variety of technologies over the past 15 years from wireless, colocation, systems integration, and telecom. His success comes from placing his customers first and getting them what they need fast.

    Ryan holds a Masters degree in Sport Pedagogy and behavioral science from Utah State University. He is passionate about sports and has coached over 200 kids while continuing his hobby of coaching by donating his time to his two son’s basketball and soccer teams.

    Ryan loves to play basketball and do martial arts. They call him, “The Bruce Lee of IT.”

    When Kathy is away from work you can find her with her two kids and dog. She loves trying all kinds of food, golf, and travel. She is also currently learning Mandarin. There’s really nothing Kathy can’t do!

    Shannon Martin is a dedicated sales professional for SUMO Communications. She’s extremely passionate about helping her customer’s with technology solutions that will create efficiencies in their business and improve their bottom line.  She considers herself a “cloud facilitator.”

    Having roots in voice services, she grew up with her Father being an independent phone system integrator and then starting her own career with one of California’s first Long Distance resellers in Santa Barbara, CA.  She’s since gone on to work with advanced cloud hosted solution providers such as SimpleSignal and Vonage Business for over 15 years.Shannon has been very instrumental in supporting both local and national, small and enterprise businesses migrate to cloud technologies.

    Brent Watson is one of our amazing sales rock stars here at SUMO. If you are looking add, move, or change service providers, Brent is your guy!

    With more than 20 years in the IT/Telecom space, Brent brings a vast knowledge and expertise to the SUMO team. Prior to SUMO, Brent was a Telecom Manager for XO Communications. His non-pressured approach has earned him the trust and confidence of his partners and clients alike.  When Brent isn’t selling telecom and IT services, he can be found consuming large amounts of elk jerky and his fair share of dilly bars.

    Brent is a graduate from the University of Phoenix where he received his BA in Information Technology.
